Stages of Psychopsidae  Detailed information on immature stages of Psychopsidae is being
  acquired.  However, Tillyard (1918)
noted that in Psychopsis elegans Guer., the larvae are
predaceous on various insects that frequent trunks and branches of Eucalyptus and related
trees.  The oval eggs are laid in
small groups on the bark during midsummer.
Larval feeding occurs at long intervals, and thus the period of development
  extends over two seasons.  Incubation
of the egg takes 12 days, and hibernation occurs as 1st instar larvae.  The 2nd winter is passed in the 3rd larval
stage after feeding is completed.  The
  cocoons resemble Chrysopa,
and are found in bark crevices.  The
cocoon stage lasts 3 weeks.       References:   Please refer to  <biology.ref.htm>      [Additional references may be found at:  MELVYL Library]   |
